The WCO announces that "C2V Connected" of Canon Information Systems (Shanghai) Inc. is now IPM Connected

The World Customs Organization (WCO) officially welcomes Canon Information Systems (Shanghai) Inc. ("Canon ITS Shanghai") and its authentication solution "C2V Connected" into the IPM Connected programme.

Canon ITS Shanghai has launched service of the "C2V Connected" enabling integrated operation with IPM. The WCO and Canon ITS Shanghai will collaborate to fight against counterfeiting.

IPM is the WCO's online tool to combat counterfeiting. This tool enables rights holders faced with counterfeiting of their brands, to exchange information in real-time with field Customs officers. The latest version of IPM integrates two major technical developments: a mobile version and the possibility to interface IPM with authentication and/or traceability solutions companies.

Canon ITS Shanghai is an IT service provider established in 1997, providing wide range of IT services. It is a member of Canon Group and a subsidiary company of Canon IT Solutions Inc., a total IT service provider in Japan. This is the first Japanese-affiliated company that is an IPM Connected partner.

Customs authorities that use IPM can instantly verify the authenticity of products of brand owners using both IPM and C2V Connected: a simple scan of the "C2V Connected" ID tags using a mobile device and IPM will automatically launch the authentication application. Just following the mobile screens, more effective and efficient verification will become available.

"C2V Connected" is a proven solution which was developed based on use case over three years; Canon China has applied Canon ITS Shanghai's authentication service, enabling consumers to easily identify authenticity of Canon's single-lens reflex camera and compact digital cameras, by using their smart phones. The sticker with ID tag is sealed on the camera's outbox, and consumers can identify authenticity of the camera by scanning the sticker on the unopened outbox. The tag spec is customised and optimised to meet the customer's demand. Canon ITS Shanghai's authentication solution, integrated to IPM, will help rights holders further increase their brand protection.

Canon ITS Shanghai is now officially IPM Connected partner and will be working with the WCO in its on-going effort to combat illicit trade and the growing threat it poses to our society and economy.
